Thank you for visiting Diabetes-Sight.org.

The Diabetes Sight website exists to educate diabetics and their families about Diabetic eye diseases / disorders.

A large percentage of Diabetics are affected by various complications to their vision as a result of diabetes and we believe that through education many of the problems associated with diabetes can be at the very least greatly delayed if not overcome completely.

Both type 1 diabetics and type 2 diabetics can benefit from the information we have collected here and we believe those with all stages of diabetic rtinopathy can benefit from learning about their condition and what options they have when it comes to treating diabetic retinopathy and other diabetic eye diseases.

As of 2007 estimates place the population of US citizens that have Diabetes at 23.6 million people or 7.8 percent of the population.

Of those people about 21% with type 2 diabetes and close to 100% that have had type 1 diabetes for 20+ years will experience the complications of diabetic retinopathy.

But what is diabetic retinopathy? What exactly causes it? How will it affect me if I get it? How can I tell if I have it or if I am exhiniting syptoms of it? Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

These are the questions that many diebetics have.

It is the mission of this website to educate diabetics and their families about diabetic eye diseases / conditions and specifically to help them to understand and hopefully avoid many of the complications of diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and glaucoma.

Thank you for visiting and we hope you find our resources beneficial.
