Insulin photoThese studies are important because of what they tell us about insulin resistance and cancer. Insulin is what the pancreas makes to help regulate blood sugar, but in all likelihood you already knew that.

Resistance to it means that your cells don’t react the way they should to it…their receptor sites aren’t interacting with insulin the way they should and so your body is unable to process sugar the way normal cells do. Another thing you probably already knew.

But…new and interesting information indicating that this might be linked to cancer is available in this reference.

Key Takeaways:

“Animal studies examine risk factors that may overlap between colorectal cancer and cardiovascular disease. This research highlights biological mechanisms driven by insulin resistance that impair blood vessel health and may be shared by both cancer and cardiovascular disease.”
